Back in 1982, two veteran NSAAers (and long time baseball fans) Don Smiley and Big Dave, thought it might be fun to add a Dodger night to the annual NSAA calendar. So the two of them agreed on a good week night to use then bought a block of tickets that anyone interested could buy.

The seats were located in "Upper Reserved" about even with the first base bag. And by buying a block, we became eligible to get "NSAA Glendale" thrown up on the giant Orgaz-matron in center field. With players, spouses and buddies in attendance, turnout was strong for 6 years starting in 1982 until is fizzled 1n 1988.

So lets see what it cost back then compared to now. The seats were $5 as was the parking but if you rode in with Dave in his stepvan or Joey in his VW van you could cut that expense to zero or maybe $1. Food and beverage were as follows: Dodger Dog $3.50, two beers $12, and popcorn $3. That means a $24 bill handled it.

Right now that same array costs $141. The seats have gone to $55, parking to $45, the Dodger Dog $7, the 2 beers $28 and the popcorn $6.

When your humble reporter asked a Dodger rep how they can justify these outrageous prices, his answer was simple: "How can our prices be too high when we sell out every night?" Touche!

So it just goes to show how bad inflation really is and that there are too many people out there with an obscene amount of free cash to blow at Uniqlo Field.
